As work continues on the Phase 1 report and with preparations for Phase 2 hearings well under way, the Inquiry has written to core participants with the following update on the progress of its work.

Phase 1 Report

Inquiry instructs expert witness

Roger will be producing a report for Phase 2 of the Inquiry's work, considering: relevant legislation and guidance for fire lifts and firefighting lifts and whether the lift in Grenfell Tower as installed/refurbished were compliant; if the Tenant Management Organisation’s policy on firefighting lifts complied with the relevant standards; If not, to what extent did they fail to comply and what impact would this have had on their functionality; If the lifts were maintained to an appropriate standard and in compliance with the relevant standards and industry practice; and how the lifts pe

Update from the Inquiry

Disclosure

The Inquiry has disclosed over 20,000 documents relevant to Phase 1. If further relevant Phase 1 material is provided to the Inquiry, this will be disclosed to the Inquiry’s core participants (CPs). As previously noted, the Inquiry will continue to publish all documents which are relevant to the Phase 1 report. They will be added to the evidence page on the Inquiry’s website.

If you are unable to attend, then please make contact using the details below. We can then arrange for individuals or small groups to speak with one of the team at either a separate meeting or by phone.  Further drop-ins will be held at the Notting Hill Methodist Church on the first Monday of following month.

Update from the Inquiry

The Chairman received an application from the Metropolitan Police Service before this afternoon's evidence session. The application concerned a request for reporting restrictions. 

Following submissions from Counsel for the Metropolitan Police Service and representations from other legal representatives, the Chairman heard the application in a closed session. Legal Representatives for the Bereaved, Survivors and Resident core  participants were present in this session as was a reporter of the Press Association.

The provisional schedule for the first phase of the Inquiry’s work has been updated with details and timings for the remainder of the programme. As with the previous schedules, the programme below remains subject to change.
